Tariff and de minimis update for US customers

Update: 14 August 2025

The US government has issued advice stating that the US$800 duty-free exemption for international packages (the de minimis exemption) will be removed for all packages from all countries with effect from 29 August 2025.

What you need to know

• All international e-commerce orders made by US residents will be subject to import duties/fees with effect from 29 August 2025
  
  
• We are prioritising US customers' orders to ensure that they arrive in the US as early as possible
  
  
• We strongly recommend that customers in the US hoping to avoid customs duties and fees place orders before 14 August
  
  
• As things stand, ColieCo Lingerie will not be assuming responsibility for the calculation or collection of any customs duties/fees due with effect from 29 August.

Beyond the respective executive order, very little information has been provided by US Customs and Border Protection as to how duties/fees will be levied and collected on International Postal Service packages received by US customs from 29 August. CTT (our local carrier in Portugal) and USPS are yet to issue any advice on how duties/fees will be calculated or on any changes to their processes.

Current advice from US Customs and Border Protection (correct as of 14 August) is as follows:

If your goods were shipped through the International Postal Service, you will need to pay the mail carrier and/or go to your local post office to pay any duty and processing fees owed when your package arrives at that post office.

As soon as US Customs and Border Protection or USPS issue any further advice, we will provide an update here.
